The Injustice app game was brilliant, using the touch-screen controls of our mobile devices to play a simple but exciting fighting game. The various characters are collected in 'cards', with additional cards giving bonuses to each character. However, the battles itself were similar to what you see in a 'versus' screen, though not as interactive.
A typical mobile game where they have a simple, core gameplay mode while using the collective nature to keep playing it, in an attempt to unlock/collect everything.
And based on the Press Release by Warner Bros, it looks like the upcoming Mortal Kombat mobile game will be similar in that aspect.
"NetherRealm Studios has created a Mortal Kombat X mobile experience that allows more players than ever before to play this over-the-top fighting game through their ever-present smartphones, tablets or other devices," said Ed Boon, Creative Director, NetherRealm Studios. “What’s more, we’ve expanded the unique cross-connectivity feature that links the mobile and console versions of Mortal Kombat X, delivering unique rewards to all players for simply playing the mobile game."
So, looks like we can expect to see unlockable content like skins, Faction War points & maybe even a couple of exclusive characters unlocked via the cross-connectivity feature. More reasons to play the mobile game!
I remember playing the Injustice mobile game, and me and a colleague will update each other of our progress and the new characters we have unlocked. That was some fun times!
Back then itself, I felt that the next Mortal Kombat game should have a similar game app, and here it is!
Anyway, check out the announcement trailer below.. No info provided on the actual gameplay or content however, but we should have updates soon enough..
